    On-Line Entry for the 5k Winter Series

     

    •All race courses are accurately measured and full results will be available shortly after each event. Category prizes and distribution of series t-shirts and spot prizes will follow the final race.
    •A specially designed, souvenir t-shirt will be awarded to everyone who enters the series and completes all 4 races.
    •€5 for races 1, 2 and 3. €8 for race 4.
    •Post race food and banter after each race at a venue to be confirmed.
    •These races are specifically designed with the beginner in mind and are perfect for the many members of the Fit4Life groups that have become established all around the county. Runners of all standards are welcome to take part. AAI Permit Granted.

    The dates for the 5K winter series have been confirmed by the Kerry Athletic Board and are as follows- with one chage

     

    Saturday the 23rd of October

    Saturday the 13th of November

    Saturday the 20th of November

    Saturday the 4th of December

     

     

     

    All details will be finalised over the weekend and online registration will be available through www.feetfirst.ie from next week.

  • Upcoming races that might be of interest

    First up the the Macroom 5k taking palce this thursday night at 8pm.

    Registration for the race (€5 for BHAA registered and €8 for non BHAA registered), refreshments and prize giving afterwards will take place at Macroom sports complex, which is located through the castle gates in the centre of the town.

     

     

    The race itself is run through the town and also over country roads with some slight inclines/declines but if run well should produce some fast times.

    There are 2 options for runners on the 10th of July.

    The first of these is the 32 Marathon Challange in Killarney. Gerry Duffy and Ken Whitelaw are running 32 marathons in 32 days and are looking for people to tun the route with them. Check out www.32marathons.com or give me a ring on 064 6627422.

    The other race on the 10th is the Ballydavid 10k. Sean Cahillane is one of the organisers of this popular event and hoping to attact a record crowd.The 3rd annual Charity 10km takes place in Corcha Dhuibhne / West Kerry on Saturday July 10th @ 2pm. Registration takes place in Tigh TPs on the morning of the race, and costs €15 for individual entry, with a special family rate of €30. Cash Prizes for Category Winners! Entertainment and BBQ will take place afterwards on the Beach and in front of Tigh TP's.  ALL PROFITS WILL BENEFIT THIS YEAR'S CHOSEN CHARITY: BEE FOR BATTENS.

    The following week is the Maxi marathon in Killarney which is a 15 mile road race from the top of Molls Gap down into Muckross House(www.maximarathonkillarney.com). Again anyone intending on doing this might find the ballydavid 10k a good final race to get ready for the maxi marathon.
